Orange Chemist

Prescription Policy

Orange Chemist dispenses medicines in accordance with applicable Indian laws, rules and pharmacy requirements.

Prescription requirement

A valid prescription from a registered medical practitioner is required for medicines that cannot legally be sold without a prescription, including medicines covered by applicable prescription schedules under the Drugs Rules, 1945, as amended. Additional restrictions may apply to narcotic, psychotropic, habit-forming and other controlled medicines. Orange Chemist may decline online, WhatsApp or home-delivery requests for products subject to special restrictions.

Prescription review

The prescription must be clear and legible and contain the patient, prescriber and medicine details required for dispensing. A licensed pharmacist may review the prescription and contact the customer or prescriber for clarification. The original prescription may be requested where required.

When an order may be declined

An order may be declined when:

  • A required prescription is not provided.
  • The prescription is unclear, incomplete or appears to have been altered.
  • The prescription cannot be reasonably verified.
  • The requested medicine or quantity is not supported by the prescription.
  • Supplying the medicine may violate an applicable legal or regulatory requirement.
  • The medicine is unavailable or subject to additional restrictions.

Substitution

A prescribed medicine will not be substituted without appropriate confirmation or authorisation wherever required.

Responsible use

Customers must use medicines only for the intended patient and in accordance with the prescriber’s instructions. Prescription medicines should not be shared with another person.

Prescription records

Prescription information may be retained where necessary for prescription verification, dispensing, record-keeping and legal or regulatory compliance. It will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
